Two Oceans 2026 Race Preview

The World's Most Beautiful Marathon

I do not usually do a preview post because that sounds a little bit tacky for an amateur athelete, but on this occasion it’s the fifth one, which is a special race, so I just felt the need to create a preview race post for this one, and share about how I’m feeling, how everything’s going before the race.

I’m currently watching the ultra-marathon, and every time I watch it I’m very tempted to do it, but I don’t think I’ll do it. The thought of running 56km is just daunting to me. That is besides the training needed.

The number 5 represents grace which is a huge part of my Christian faith. I would love to mark my 5th Two Oceans Half Marathon with a PB. For this race I’ll be taking advantage of the Garmin Pace Pro strategy. It’s the first time I’ll be using it for the Two Oceans Marathon. It’s actually the first time I will be using it in an official race. I have used it before during a training run. I’m hoping that’s gonna help me with my goal. I have tweaked the strategy a little bit. I’ve looked at my past four races as input to the strategy. I have made my pace strategy more neutral that means I do not want to start slow and then go faster, or start faster then go slower. But one thing I’ve done is make my hills easy, so my pace will be very slow for the hills, and I think that will help me in terms of saving energy for the rest of the race.

It’s going to be interesting one, hopefully fun as usual. I am starting in a batch that’s pretty far from the front for the first time ever, but I guess that’s because of the growth of the race. But I’m hoping that I’m going to be in the right seeding group in terms of my pace, because I did submit a seeding time. I noticed being in the right seeding batch helped a lot in Cape Peninsula Half Marathon 2026 were I achieved my latest PB.

I’ve also been carbo-loading since Friday and I’ve also had some cramp management supplements and exercises, I’m hoping that’s gonna make a difference. I am so looking forward to it. I hope it works out. Hope everything goes according to plan.

All the best to everyone running the race.
